Just 50km from San Sebastian and the Atlantic, the Bodega Tandem are based in the Yerri Valley in the cooler North of Navarra, where grapes are often picked three or four weeks later than in the South of the region. The result is a really diverse selection of wines, vibrant, fresh yet complex, many of which have become household names in Highams Park. Viognier is still an “experimental” grape in Navarra, but Tandem produce a unique style that spends four months is French oak barrels, with daily “bâtonnage”, a Burgundian term that means mixing up the juice with the lees (the yeast sediment and leftover bits of grapes) which gives the wine richness and complexity.
