Soca Rel Politxó Negre

I was hooked on first meeting winemaker Pep Rodriguez and tasting the wines of Soca Rel (which literally tranlates to "through and through local" which seemed appropriate to Vino Tap). Pep concentrates on local Mallorcan grape varieties and works in a low intervention style and on a tiny scale.

Politxo Negro is produced from the rare Mallorcan grape of Espero de Gall, often compared with Cabernet Franc.  A savoury, herbaceous, peppery quality here, balanced with juicy red fruit, silky mouthfeel and a light body. Food-friendly and thirst-quenching.
