Germán Blanco is a young winemaker who is championing a fresher style of Tinto del Pais- the local name for Tempranillo. He calls his project a 'Micro-winery ‘ and it is a true family business, based around the village of La Aguilera in the Burgos province.
The Milu La Cometa is harvested from vines with average 70 years of age which are planted on mainly clay and limestone soils. Fermented in open top oak barriques then matured for 11 months in French oak casks. Wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal additions of sulphur.
Spicy and perfumed nose with notes of black pepper, dark plums, dark cherries and violets. It has a firm structure on the palate with grippy tannins and a racy acidity.
