Cabernet Franc Las Compuertas Durigutti

The Cabernet Franc is from a range of tiny production wines, each focusing on a different grape varieties, grown at high altitude and on different “terroirs”. The Cab Franc is planted in sandy, loamy, pebbly soils, then fermented in whole bunches, before ageing in egg-shaped concrete tanks. With elegant, fresh tannins, this wine has a subtle, herbaceous plum and blackcurrant aroma. Partly thanks to no oak ageing at all, the Compuertas wines show off an incredibly pure expression of each grape, yet the Cabernet Franc had to be my favourite.
