Located in the village of El Masroig, in the southwestern part of the Montsant DO, this community based cooperative was established in 1917 to support and maintain the population (500 people) and their agricultural heritage. Celler Masroig have created a cycle of re-investment for the community, producing both olive oil and a variety of wines from their 400 ha of surrounding land.
The Pinyeres wines are based in an old vineyard surrounding a Hermitage, named after the pine trees in the area. The white grenache (100%) is picked early and then aged on its lees for 6 months – these are all the yeast and bits of sediment from the grapes – which gives the wine a lovely rich texture, without being too full-bodied.
