Rosso di Montalcino is the younger, fruitier brother of Brunello di Montalcino as it doesn't have lengthy ageing stipulations. This particular Rosso from Podere Canalino however has been ageing in bottle for a number of years (after a very short time in large oak barrels) so it tastes like a much more expensive Brunello. It is a super smooth fruity red wine - think sweet and slightly sour cherries and baked plums - with the savoury notes that you would expect from a Sangiovese wine with age and really soft tannins.
